KTU Sponsored Faculty Development Program on

Industry 4.0: Current Research Trends and Challenges

The Faculty Development Programme on Industry 4.0 : Current Research Trends and Challenges with Dr Selvia Kuriakose and Ms Deepa Prabhu as coordinators was approved by the APJ Abdul Kalam University via proceedings KTU/JD(ACADEMICS)/2223/2019 dated 12/12/2018.The 5 days FDP was conducted from 27th May to 31st May 2019.Thirty faculty members with twenty external participants and ten internal participants attended the FDP. Technologists from leading industries and eminent academicians from reputed institutes handled the sessions.

Workshops Conducted

The ECE Department organized a summer course, “Young Inventor”, for the school students aged between 11 & 15 years, from 14th May 2018 to 18th May 2018. This course was based on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) approach.





FDPs Conducted

In order to strengthen the ongoing programs of the ECE Department and to cater to the growing demands of bridging the gulf between academy and industry in the field of RF/Wireless communication, the department of ECE in partnership with Keysight Technolgies (formerly Agilent Technologies) has set up a state of the art advanced research laboratory. The lab was declared as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) by M/s Keysight Technologies on 14/02/18.  To mark the occasion and to foster cooperation between academia, research organisations and industry, the department also conducted a five day workshop from 12/02/2018 to 16/02/2018 on "Relevant areas in RF and Wireless communication". The sessions were handled by eminent personalities from industry & academia.



As part of the inauguration of advanced laboratories, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) organized a four day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “ESDM tools in Education, Research and Industry”. 



Advanced laboratories set up in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) of Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science, Ernakulam were inaugurated by Shri. R. Umamaheswaran (Deputy Director, Avionics, VSSC).



5-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on   " IoT and Embedded System Design ”              



A two-day workshop on “System Design Using Vivado Design Suite and Zynq-7000 SoC Kit” by CoreEL Technologies was organized by Mr. Anas M. M, Asst. Professor on 21st and 22nd of March 2017.

The details regarding Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and Workshops attended by the faculty members during October- December 2017 are as follows.



Ms. Athira Jess Cherian and Ms Irin Sajan, Asst. Professor, ECE visited IIT Kanpur to attend a short term course on "Spectrum Sensing for MIMO-OFDM cognitive radio systems" during 21-04-17 to 24-04-17.


Ms. Dhanya S (Associate Professor) and Ms. Anjali S.V (Assistant Professor) visited IIT Kanpur to attend a short term course on "MIMO, Massive MIMO, OFDM4G/5GWireless Technologies" during 20-06-17 to 23-06-17.


Priscilla Grace George and Ms. Athira Jess Cherian attended a two-day hands-on workshop on Machine learning with R programming organized by IEDC, MITS on 25th-26th August 2017.


Dr. Arun Joy (Associate Professor, ECE) and Mr. Ameenudeen P. E (Assistant Professor, ECE) attended a workshop on Software Defined Radio at CUSAT during 20th and 21st November 2017.


Mr. Baiju Karun, Mr. Ameenudeen P. E, Mr. Anas M. M & Ms. Priscilla Grace George attended a workshop on linear Algebra, at RSET, Ernakulam on 18th November 2017.


Mr. T. Nithin attended a short term training programme on "RF and Microwaves: From theory to experiments" at CUSAT, Ernakulam during 27th November 2017 to 1st December 2017.
